What Races and When?
 (Friday January 14th
HP JNQ Race; 5km Classic Interval; Start - 12:00pm 
W.H.S.A.A. Race; 5km Classic Interval; Start -around 1:00pm

Saturday January 15th
HP JNQ Race; 5km Skate Interval; Start - 10:00am 
W.H.S.A.A. Race; 5km Skate Interval; Start ~ around 11:00am
Citizens Race; 10km Skate Mass Start; 45 min after the start of the final high school race (Approximately 1:30)
Please note that the High Plains Junior National Qualifier (JNQ) and Wyoming High School (WYHS) Races will be run on the same course at staggered times. Skiers will only participate in one race per day. There is no charge for the W.H.S.A.A. race. WY High School Athletes who are also racing in the JNQ will have their times compared to the full WYHS field to award All-State Points.

Citizens Race Details
Citizen Race Details: 
Race Type: 10K Skate -Mass Start
Fee: $25 pre-register online by 4:00 p.m. Fri. Jan. 14  
        $35 register day of the race @ Martin’s Hut 12:15 -12:45 p.m.
         Bibs will be available for pick up in Martin’s Hut 12:15 -1:15 p.m.
Start Time:  Approximately 1:30 p.m.
Wax: There are no wax restrictions for this race 

Seeding: Bib numbers will be assigned by random draw to racers registered by 4:00 p.m. Friday Jan. 14, lower numbers going to those who self identify as “competitive.” Racers who register the day of the race will get the next lowest available bib, starting behind all pre-registered racers.

JNQ/WHSAA Races Details 
High Plains JNQ Race: Registration opens Jan. 1, 2022. Closes Jan. 12, 2022. Late fee after Jan. 9, 2022.

Individual Registration on the USSS website. ***Confirm with your coach how to register before registering as an individual. 
             Login to your account.
             Click on “Athlete Event Registration”
             Search for the Event - if you put in January, XC, and Northern Division it pops right up.
      
High Plains JNQ Race Fee:* 
     $25/race
     $10 Late Fee after Jan. 9
*Fees are used to cover timing and Technical Delegate expenses incurred to score this race on the USSS national rankings list.


W.H.S.A.A. Race Entries:
Coaches will receive the google sheet the week prior to the race. They will only register skiers for the High School Race. Entries due by 6:00 p.m. Wed. Jan. 12.

Friday January 14th: 5km Classic Interval Start
Bibs: 
available at Martin’s Hut in the Stadium at 10:00 AM

Course Open for Inspection: 10:00 AM 
National Anthem: 11:30 AM
Course Closed: 11:45 AM 
Start Time: 12:00 PM  (1 skier every 15 seconds interval start)

Warm-up Area:
ski course in proper direction until 10:45 AM and the off trails of the maze/stadium area. 


6:30 PM Awards Dinner at Kelly Walsh High School
    3500 E. 12th, enter the building on the north side, by the      flagpole. 
    $10.00/ person (Children under 5 Free)
Saturday, Jan. 15th:  5/10 K Freestyle Interval Start
Bibs: available at Martin’s Hut in the Stadium: 8:00 AM 
Course open for inspection: 8:00 AM 
National Anthem: 9:30 AM
Course Closed: 9:45 AM 
Start Time: 10:00 AM W.H.S.A.A. High School Race

​Warm-up Area: Ski course in proper direction until 9:45 AM and the off trails of the  maze/stadium area. 
​

Race officials reserve the right to alter start times due to inclement weather/situations on both days if the need arises. Please advise your skiers to be within “earshot” of the stadium for race  announcements. 

Other Important Race Info 
Buses/Parking: For both days (and Thursday if arriving for course inspection) please park in the  lower Skunk Hollow Parking Lot
For access to the stadium/race course from Skunk Hollow Parking Lot→ have your athletes walk up the valley that goes by the Skunk Hollow restrooms towards the temporary lodge. 

Additional team vehicles & spectators will need to park in the upper lot. Parking along the roadway is not permitted. Overflow parking is available at Beartrap Meadow. Directions to Beartrap Meadow: Continue past the Trails Center Parking Lot for approximately ½ mile. Parking lot will be on the right hand side of the road. 

Stadium: The Start/Finish Areas for Friday and Saturday will be located in front of our timing and storage buildings in the Nordic Stadium. 

Maps: 
Maps will be posted here as soon as they are available. Snow conditions will dictate the course.
