High Plains Qualification Standards
Athlete Qualifying Procedures and Policies 2025/2026
Jackson & Casper NRL (2025/26 Season):
U18-20: 8% back from the average of the top 3 overall race finishers in gender division shall count as a qualifying result.
U16: 10% back from the average of the top 3 overall race finishers in gender division shall count as a qualifying result.
Out of Division Qualifiers:
U16-U20: 15% back from the average of the top 3 age group finishers in gender division shall count as a qualifying result.
U.S. Nationals, Super Tour, Super Qualifier (SOHO):
U16-U20: 20% back from the average of the top 3 age group finishers shall count as a qualifying result.
An athlete will be considered auto-qualified for the High Plains JN team by posting a minimum of 3 qualifying results from the designated qualification events.
The qualifying standard is based upon a comparison of the predicted strength of the field for each of the qualifying events. Coaches discretion approved by the High Plains Board may be used to make appropriate adjustments.
There will be a second qualification path for U16 skiers if less than three U16 boys and three U16 girls auto-qualify. In such an event High Plains may pick additional athletes that have not fully met the automatic qualification requirements for the purpose of fielding a U16 relay. (The number of additional athletes selected will be dependent on the Junior National relay format).
For example if two U16 boys or two girls auto-qualified, HP will pick a 3rd athlete of each gender to ensure injury or sickness will not limit building a U16 mixed relay team.
If the Junior National Organizing Committee reverts back to the traditional 3 person relay for each gender in a scenario where 2 boys auto-qualified HP could select 2 additional boys to fill the relay and allow for an extra skier in case of injury or illness. These athletes will be selected based on the ski style and race distance used in the relay.
